Pioneer of Big Data Analytics and Data Science Joins Board of the Originator of Software-based 3D Post-Printing
BUFFALO, NY, USA – March 25, 2021 – PostProcess Technologies Inc., the first and only provider of automated and intelligent post-printing solutions for industrial 3D printing, today announced that Dr. Usama Fayyad has joined its Board of Directors. Dr. Fayyad will be serving on the Board alongside other seasoned executives, who help guide the company with insights from their decades of pattern recognition developed from building and leading a variety of highly successful companies.
Fayyad is a world-renowned expert in data analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence (AI). He is the world’s first executive to hold the title of Chief Data Officer, a role he held at Yahoo! once they acquired his second start-up. In addition to his leadership roles at NASA/JPL and Microsoft, Fayyad served as the chairman, co-founder, and CTO of several startups in Seattle and the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2010, Fayyad was appointed the Executive Chairman of Oasis500 by King Abdullah II of Jordan and launched the largest technology accelerator in the Middle East / North Africa region. From 2013 to 2016, he served as the Global Chief Data Officer & Group Managing Director at Barclays Bank in London.
Most recently, Fayyad co-founded OODA Health, Inc, a VC-funded healthcare technology company where he also served as CTO. He is chairman of Open Insights, a company he founded in 2008 to address AI/Big Data needs of some of the largest enterprises globally. He was recently appointed as the Inaugural Executive Director of the Institute for Experiential AI at Northeastern University where the goal is to build the top research institute addressing how humans interface to produce pragmatic and powerful intelligent technologies.
With a Computer Engineering Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Fayyad has published over 100 technical articles and holds more than 20 patents. He regularly delivers keynotes on Big Data, Predictive Analytics, AI/Data Science/Data Mining, Data Monetization Strategies, and Early-Stage Investment and Acceleration strategies for technology start-ups. His work at JPL in the analysis and exploration of Big Data in scientific applications garnered him The Lew Allen Award for Excellence in Research from Caltech, as well as a U.S. Government medal from NASA, among many other distinctions.
