Fort Collins, Colorado, USA, December 16, 2013—Wohlers Associates announced today that Olaf Diegel, PhD has joined the company as an associate consultant. The company also announced that Tim Caffrey has been promoted to senior consultant.
Dr. Diegel is a professor of mechatronics at Massey University in Auckland, New Zealand. As founder and CEO of ODD Guitars, he has designed, built, and finished an impressive and widely recognized line of 3D-printed guitars. Over the past 10 years, Diegel has developed more than 60 commercial products for theater lighting, security, marine, and home health monitoring.
Dr. Diegel was born in New Zealand and grew up in Canada, and has lived in Japan, South Africa, Germany, and the UK. He returned to New Zealand with his wife, where they have lived for past 21 years. His international perspective, coupled with impressive CAD, design, and product development experience, further enhances the global and technical capabilities at Wohlers Associates.
Mr. Caffrey has worked with Wohlers Associates since 2000 and has brought a unique combination of experience in aerospace, engineering, additive manufacturing, and technical writing. In 2010, he accepted a much larger role at the company and has since managed many consulting projects and presented at industry events internationally. Caffrey is one of two principal authors of the Wohlers Report, the company’s annual state of the industry publication on additive manufacturing and 3D printing worldwide.
