- EOS M 400: Additive Manufacturing System for the Industrial Production of High-Quality Large Metal Parts.
Blangy-sur-Bresle/Lyon, May 10 2016 – VOLUM-e, subsidiary of the group MMB, just recently installed an EOS M 400 Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) system, first high capacity system from EOS, the global technology and quality leader for high-end Additive Manufacturing (AM) solutions. The system offers a large build envelope of 400 x 400 x 360 mm and enables the industrial production of high-quality large metal parts – directly from CAD data and with no need for tools.
As a longstanding customer of EOS, VOLUM-e started to invest into AM already back in 1994 for polyamide technology and since then runs fourteen other industrial 3D printers for plastic and metal.
André SUREL, Regional Manager of EOS in France states: “VOLUM-e is a pioneer in France in the metal laser melting and has one of the largest systems parks in the country. His experience and knowledge of the technology are remarkable.”
VOLUM-e is one of the few French companies to be qualified for the additive manufacturing of flying parts by groups such as THALES and SAFRAN (ISO 9001: 2008 and EN 9100). The Aerospace certification involves at least seven key factors such as control of powders, products, processes, production safety, maintenance (environmental aspects) and staff training.
Moreover, Volume-e chairs the European Technical Committee CEN / TC 438 since 2015. The company is the driving force behind the ISO Standardization works animated by EOS since 2010.
France DESJONQUERES, CEO at MMB / VOLUM-e group ads: “In 2016 we will inaugurate a new facility of 1000 m² that will expand our production capacity and diversify our production means. Initially specialized in rapid prototyping, Volum-e-adds to its production facilities an EOS M 400, and can now offer an industrial production capacity in line with the Industry 4.0.”
