    • Uncovering the Future of 3D Printing at IMTS 2016, West Hall

CHICAGO, IL [September 12, 2016] — To realize large-scale adoption of additive manufacturing, the market has shown a demand for cost-effective machinery that provides increased scalability and throughput, and open-market enabled solutions delivered in a robust industrial tech package. At this year’s International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2016 in Chicago, 3D Platform (3DP) is excited to unveil two new concepts that not only answer the demands of AM customers, but also pave the way for the future of 3D printing.

3D Platform large format additive manufacturing machines will handle material throughput as high as 55kg/hr per gantry. The Excel Series of machines are configured with multiple gantries, with additive and subtractive capabilities, as well as robots that can use any of several tools. (Photo courtesy of 3D Platform)

    Scalability & Throughput
Building upon their industry leadership of large format machines, the XL-Delta and the Excel-Multi Gantry printers will provide custom work areas from 0.5 to +3 cubic meters. The extended work areas will allow machine operators to 3D print on scales that reach nearly 2.5m across and 2m in height with nozzle sizes up to +4.5mm, 3D Platform machines increase the throughput of the materials while decreasing the 3D print time for each project. The power of multiprocessing using parallel gantries and a combination of additive, subtractive, and robotic configurations pushes previous application limits by providing the potential material throughput to 1.5-2 kg/hr.

    Open Market Enabled Solutions
Closing the door on proprietary solutions, 3D Platform approaches these all-new printer concepts open market platforms, leveraging material science developments and best-in-class partnerships to expand served applications.

    Affordability
A key holdup in widespread adoption of 3D printing technology has been cost of ownership and operation. Internal studies printing common industrial parts have shown a 10x reduction in operating costs for materials used, as well as a 10x reduction in machine acquisition costs compared to 3D Platform’s competition.

    Robust Industrial Technology
The strong partnerships 3D Platform has with THK, Yaskawa, and Shimpo contribute to the robust industrial design built into 3D Platform machines. These partnerships shape linear guides, while powering motion control and industrial robotics technology.
