- EOS Recognizes Incodema3D’s Commitment to Quality Part Production with Certification
Novi, March 17, 2017 – EOS, the global technology leader for industrial 3D printing, awarded the first Additive Manufacturing Quality (AMQ) certification in North America to Incodema3D, a leader in direct metal 3D printing. The AMQ certification strengthens Incodema3D’s position in the AM market by ensuring customers a reliable supply chain for additively manufactured (AM) parts and components.
The AMQ certification is a holistic assessment conducted by EOS that measures all quality-management elements of a company’s AM production chain with the goal of highest part quality, transparency, and repeatability. This qualification, developed in cooperation with German based TÜV Süd, brings together EOS’ proven experience in AM with TÜV Süd’s expertise in production auditing to differentiate companies committed to quality AM production. These standards are critical, for example, for manufacturers navigating the regulation-laden aerospace and medical industries that need to ensure sustainable, repeatable quality management systems.
“Our AMQ program underscores EOS’ dedication to quality assurance for our partners and the end customer, and I firmly believe that this kind of standardization is critical to increasing mainstream adoption of AM,” said Dr. Gregory Hayes, Director of Applications and Consulting for EOS North America. “Our EOS consulting team – called Additive Minds – partners with our customers, like Incodema3D, to bring this level of quality assurance to their entire organization, arming them with a key differentiator among the competitive set.”
As the first North American AMQ recipient, Incodema3D deepens its partnership with EOS to provide customers with the highest quality metal AM production, with speed and consistency while maintaining competitive pricing. In working with EOS, Incodema3D initially set out to provide a very efficient contract production Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) service, purchasing two metal AM systems in late 2012. However, it was through Incodema’s efforts in quality assurance that, together with EOS, they were able to create a scalable, competitive operation targeted at specific high-growth industries.
“In the metal AM industry, there’s an assumption that next-generation technologies like AM create a plug-and-play solution that opens the door to opportunities in high-yield markets, such as medical and aerospace,” said Sean Whittaker, president and CEO, Incodema3D. “It’s just not that simple. To be a viable industry player, Incodema quickly realized we had to invest in knowledge, not just machines, so we worked with EOS’ Additive Minds consulting team to ensure excellence in the DMLS process, of which our AMQ certification was a critical part.”
Incodema3D has been AS 9100 certified since December 2015 and AMQ certified since December 2016. With the AMQ certification and an ever growing fleet of EOS metal technology, they have a created a scalable DMLS production service offering that many customers rely on and trust.
