Rehovot, Israel – April 20, 2017 – XJet Ltd., the additive manufacturing company pioneering NanoParticle JettingTM (NPJ) technology, will present its groundbreaking ceramic inkjet 3D printing capabilities at Ceramics Expo 2017. North America’s largest gathering for the technical ceramics industry, Ceramics Expo 2017 will be held at I-X Center in Cleveland Ohio on April 25-27, 2017.
During the three-day event, XJet will share details about its ceramic 3D printing capabilities and display sample ceramic 3D printed parts at Booth 1001. On April 26 at 12:45 pm, XJet’s CBO Dror Danai will present the technology and participate in a special panel on ceramic additive manufacturing challenges.
XJet’s NanoParticle JettingTM (NPJ) technology has been described as a “game-changer” in metal 3D printing with its unprecedented levels of detail, surface finish and accuracy, producing high-quality parts with any geometry. In Q4/2016, XJET announced its ability to print ceramic parts, which will be demonstrated for the first time at the annual Ceramics Expo in Cleveland.
“After many years of research and development, we are excited to have reached this important milestone of producing ceramic parts using our NanoParticle JettingTM technology,” said Hanan Gothait, CEO and Founder of XJet. “NPJ is a truly disruptive technology as it offers a totally new level of ceramic and metal 3D printing.”
NanoParticle JettingTM produces an ultra-thin layer of droplets containing ceramic nanoparticles. These droplets are deposited onto the system build tray, producing ceramic parts with the ease and versatility of inkjet printing. Delivered as sealed cartridges, the liquid dispersions are loaded easily into the XJet system. Inside the system’s build envelope, high temperatures cause the liquid “jacket” around the ceramic nanoparticles to evaporate. As a result, the produced parts exhibit the same mechanical properties as parts made in more traditional ways. In addition, the ceramic parts undergo an easy sintering process, with supports removed simply and with almost no manual intervention.
The advantages of XJet’s jetting technology, which meets the specific needs of ceramic 3D printing, can be summarized in “three dimensions of innovation”:
- Stochastic nanoparticles – The size and shape of the particles are randomly distributed to allow “natural” packing.
- Support – XJet’s system prints soluble support material that allows for simple and clean support removal.
- Single-step sintering – The non-UV materials enable straightforward sintering.
