BUFFALO, NY, USA — October 14, 2020 – PostProcess Technologies Inc., the first and only provider of automated and intelligent post-printing solutions for industrial 3D printing, has announced the selection of its automated surface finishing solution by the Finland-based company, Lillbacka Powerco Oy. As Finland’s trusted manufacturers of crimping machines for over 50 years, Lillbacka has chosen to implement the PostProcess™ RADOR™ automated surface finishing solution to better serve its international customers with customized end-use parts.
To enable fast lead times and further their use of digitalization, Lillbacka Powerco utilizes Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) print technology for production. Specifically, DMLS is utilized to rapidly produce the end-use crimping dies that are instrumental to each machine, as well as for custom tooling requests. Finding traditional blasting procedures to be time-consuming to reach the expected finishing of printed parts, the company will turn to the software-intelligent RADOR finishing solution.
The RADOR utilizes patent-pending Suspended Rotational Force (SRF) technology to consistently finish parts from all print technologies to customer specifications via optimized energy with vertical motion and proprietary consumables. Though Lillbacka is employing the RADOR for metal finishing, this full-stack solution has been developed for use with all additive manufacturing print technologies and won’t break delicate parts. Like the entire surface finishing line, the RADOR has been designed with noise-reducing features for low dBA to prevent disruption in non-production environments.
Masi Tammela, Additive Manufacturing Manager at Lillbacka Powerco said, “As we further implement digitalization within our product portfolio, we have come to realize the power in leveraging intelligent solutions in our own manufacturing processes. Bringing the automated RADOR into our additive workflow will allow us to broaden our additive capabilities, from prototyping and custom tooling to serial production of customer-specific crimping dies.”
Bruno Bourguet, Managing Director at PostProcess Technologies, said, “We’re pleased to see the efficiencies that the RADOR will unlock for a company as prestigious and longstanding as Lillbacka. We are confident that this software-driven solution will continue to prove advantageous to Lillbacka’s workflow and bolster their ability to print with the high-quality standards that they are known for.”
