To Empower Students with 3D Printing Knowledge from Young Professionals with an All-Female Agenda of Speakers from GM, Ford, Divergent, Stratasys, and Girl Gang Garage
APRIL 12, 2021 — Women in 3D Printing Next Gen is excited to announce its next ‘Meet the Stars of 3D Printing’ virtual event. The Automotive Edition which will feature an all-female panel of speakers from GM, Ford, Divergent, and Stratasys with special TV host guests from Girl Gang Garage, taking place virtually on April 20th, 2021 from 7-9 pm EST.
This panel will introduce additive manufacturing experts from the automotive industry to discuss their journey enabling 3D printing for different use cases, whether it be for prototyping, tooling, or production. Over the last year, an increasing number of sectors have been exploring the ‘right to repair’ – that is why we have invited two special guests who are the founders at Girl Gang Garage. They will share their perspectives around car restoration and refurbishment – and the potential 3D printing can have to enable such capabilities. In 2019, Girl Gang Garage debuted the HighYellow56 truck for the SEMA show with talented ladies across the world.
“We want to enable the next generation of the 3D printing workforce to understand the applications, opportunities, and challenges awaiting for them if they decide to take a step into this direction,” shares Maddie Frank, a leader at Women in 3D Printing Next Gen, the Wi3DP Next Gen Girl Gang Garage leader, and the moderator for this event.
The purpose of Wi3DP Next Gen events is to spotlight female role models in additive manufacturing to provide students with the resources and network to build a career in the industry.
“From an education standpoint, we also want to make sure girls and boys have access to the same type of learning, content, and opportunities. That way, in the future our next gen can make the right choices. By empowering girls and women early on, we also form a network of future team members,” shares Nora Touré, founder of Women in 3D Printing. “We talked about the importance of collaboration. Collaborations are important in all sets of job or work sectors, not just with what we do. We want to put them all out there to enable that too.”
The two-hour virtual event will offer attendees the opportunity to learn from and connect with these professionals in real-time. Following a panel discussion, the Remo platform allows for live conversation and networking to directly speak with the current and next generation of women in aerospace 3D printing.
‘Meet the Stars of 3D Printing: Automotive Edition’ will feature 3D Printing Experts:
Malini Dusey, Additive Manufacturing at General Motors
Kadie Hartman, Performance Engineer at Ford
Allyson Abel, Applications Engineer at Stratasys
Taylor Doty, Senior Additive Manufacturing Production Manager at Divergent

I believe this will be a great opportunity to compile experiences and ideas with like-minded women in these industries! It always amazes me how intertwined 3D printing and automotive have become throughout recent years. I think there’s still so much more to be explored too!”
“The future is 100% now as far as we’re concerned. The opportunities that 3D printing affords vehicle customization are unbelievable. Its ever-growing accessibility the depth of female talent are all things that make us genuinely excited to learn more. We are thrilled to integrate this into Girl Gang Garage’s all-female builds,” share Girl Gang Garage founders Bogi Lateiner and Shawnda Williams.
Women in 3D Printing launched Wi3DP Next Gen via the inaugural ‘Meet the Stars of 3D Printing’ event, which took place in January 2021. The first Wi3DP Next Gen event spotlighted young professionals from LEGO, Tapestry, SpaceX, New Balance, and Facebook. Approximately 470 students and educators registered for the event, demonstrating a significant interest in additive manufacturing and 3D printing content designed for the student community.
As a community-based organization, Women in 3D Printing strives to serve the industry as a whole with resources to build a more equitable future. Wi3DP Next Gen brings that community together in regular global, virtual events to share experiences, successes, ongoing work, and forward-looking strategies.
