(Vienna/Boston) March 30, 2022 — The Austrian optics specialist IN-VISION Technologies AG announces the next big step in DLP-Projection: the first native 4K Light Engine for industrial applications.
Until today, 4K in DLP-Projection was usually achieved by re-positioning WGXGA-Chip pixels to improve image resolution. This method increased resolution but image size was unchanged. The new chipset from Texas Instruments, due for release mid- 2022, introduces a radical improvement: it offers a “native” resolution of 4096×2176. As a Texas Instruments Design House partner, IN-VISION is developing the first industrial UV Light Projector based on this chipset. AVATAR enables users of 3D-printing and lithography to expose, at high resolution, a larger area than previously possible, and to make moving exposures with high optical performance.
Some of the main features of the flagship-system will be:
– Open System: The built-in Xilinx Zynq UltraScale allows users to customize their applications or use prepared Software.
– Field Changeability: The LED-Module is easily swapped out by the customer and does not require any further calibration or set-up.
– Scrolling availability: AVATAR is designed for moving exposure. It comes with an optical PCIe-Interface, Optical Trigger IN/OUT and a 1 Gigabyte Ethernet-Connection to ensure high scrolling speeds.
– Watercooled System: Illumination- and DMD-Units are equipped with separate connectors for water cooling to achieve optical peak system performance .
– Stackability: The small width of the system allows projectors to be lined up down to very small pixel sizes
– Onboard User-Interface: An OLED-Display informs the user about the operating status and key parameters.
– Designed for performance: To handle the large amounts of data that a 4K image contains, especially in scrolling mode, the device is equipped with an optical PCIe interface. IN-VISION Technologies AG Industriestrasse 9 A-2353 Guntramsdorf www.in-vision.at
“AVATAR is an exciting development,” says Christof Hieger, In-Vision CTO, “the new projection system redefines the boundaries of DLP technology in Additive Manufacturing and lithography”. CEO Florian Zangerl explains: “First Pre-SeriesModels of the next-generation Light Engine will be available for Lead Customers in the fourth quarter of 2022”. Serial production of AVATAR is expected for 2023. IN-VISION’s Lead-Customer-Program closes soon, but minor adaptions can still be taken into account.
