8 February 2016, Bristol, UK, -On Friday 5 February Kingswood MP, Chris Skidmore, formally opened HiETA Technologies’ new Additive Manufacturing Technology Centre. Over 60 guests attended the event, primarily HiETA’s collaborators, clients, partners and suppliers.
Mike Adams, HiETA CEO opened proceedings with a short company history featuring coffee shops and an entrepreneurial attitude. He was followed by Industry experts Robin Wilson, Lead Technologist, High Value Manufacturing, Innovate UK and Neil Mantle, Chairman of the Steering Group for UK National Strategy for Additive Manufacturing/3D Printing, who gave short addresses, outlining the importance of AM to the UK’s manufacturing strategy.
Following the presentations visitors enjoyed tours of the facility, including a live demonstration of additive manufacturing in action and joined HiETA’s team to celebrate the company’s outstanding growth from a single desk at Bristol & Bath Science Park to the 24-strong team of highly skilled engineers the company boasts today.
Chris Skidmore MP, member for Kingswood, accredited HiETA as one of many technology companies enjoying success in the South West: “As the local MP I am honoured to open HiETA’s new Technology Centre. The West of England is paving the way in science, engineering and technology and today’s opening at the Bristol & Bath Science Park highlights a great example of this. High value manufacturing is a real growth sector and I will do everything I can to bolster this activity and ensure that we have the correct infrastructure to support it”.

About Additive Manufacturing
Additive Manufacturing (AM) refers to a process by which digital 3D design data is used to build up a component in layers by depositing material. Instead of milling a workpiece from solid block, for example, AM builds up components layer by layer using materials that are available in fine powder form. A range of different metals, plastics and composite materials may be used. The AM process means dramatically increased design freedom and, often, reduced weight and wastage of material.
