    Alex Kingsbury

    Alex Kingsbury is a well-known technical expert and social commentator on all things additive. Alex has worked in AM in research and commercial capacities for over ten years and has professional experience in the media formats of print, TV, and radio. Her work in AM is focused on translational research for commercial impact, and this has extended across many AM technologies over the years. Currently Alex’s daytimes are spent investigating novel alloy design for the wire arc additive manufacturing process, whereas her evenings are spent playing with her Prusa MK3S, mainly printing toys for her kids! Alex is also an independent expert on the Standards Australia Additive Manufacturing Technical Committee and the Regional Chair for Women in 3D Printing in Oceania and Asia. Alex holds a Bachelor of Engineering from RMIT University in Melbourne; she is also a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

    RAPID + TCT 2023 : The Next Level Review

    The theme this year for RAPID + TCT, the largest additive manufacturing show in the northern hemisphere, was ‘The Next Level’, and next level it certainly was! There were exhibitors, there were talks, there were numerous networking functions, and there were product launches!

    Down Under and Back in the U.S.A. with Revitalized Additive Manufacturing Interest

    Unlike previous events and showcases (virtual or otherwise) my sense of the industry is that we are forging ahead with innovation after a long period of uncertainty and stagnation. A big amount of capital flowed into the industry last year and this is now being put to use. In addition, The Great Resignation has happened (or is still happening!) and I saw a lot of industry faces wearing Different company logos and standing in different booths this year. The AM industry feels revitalized and alive, and it’s great to be back on track.
