Nanoscribe — Mini Gift for HeKKSaGOn Conference at KIT

 

October 5, 2016 — Nanoscribe, a spin-off of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), has once again managed to make a big impact with a tiny present: As part of the HeKKSaGOn conference, which took place from September 29-30 in Karlsruhe, Japanese university presidents were given a 3D-printed miniature replication of the Karlsruhe landmark, a pyramid only 2 mm in height. For some special trickery, the specialists for high-resolution 3D printing on the nano- and micrometer scale, printed the logos of HeKKSaGOn, KIT, and Nanoscribe on the sides of the pyramid.

The CEO of Nanoscribe, Martin Hermatschweiler, is delighted to have contributed to this scientifically important conference: “We are honored that we were picked to create the gifts for the Japanese guests. In addition to submicron accuracy, our Photonic Professional GT System’s ability to customize is one of its particular strengths. That’s how we came up with the idea to make this very special edition of the Karlsruhe landmark.”

The pyramids were created on a glass substrate from polymeric photoresist in just a few hours using a laser-lithographic 3D printing process and the previously generated STL data. The non-exposed material is washed at the end in a developing bath, so that the finished plastic objects remain.
