- EOS Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) technology will be used by Morf3D to manufacture production flight hardware for Boeing and Honeywell
NOVI, Mich., March 7, 2018 – Today, EOS, the world’s leading technology supplier in the field of industrial 3D printing of metals and polymers, announced the sale of two of its flagship EOS M 400-4 metal 3D printers to Morf3D, a cutting-edge additive design and manufacturing company. The two printers fulfil the first part of Morf3D’s letter of intent to acquire a total of ten EOS M 400-4 machines in the upcoming months.
This purchase builds on Morf3D’s existing metal additive manufacturing (AM) infrastructure housed at its Innovation Center in El Segundo, California, and allows Morf3D to respond the growing market demand for precision, metal 3D-printed applications. Morf3D’s recent engagement with Boeing and Honeywell to supply production flight hardware further exemplifies the organization’s commitment to quality and innovation in a high-end marketplace with exacting clients.
Ivan Madera, the CEO of Morf3D, has articulated an expansive forward-looking growth strategy for his company. “The AM market is maturing and with that comes increased production demands with very stringent requirements. Not all organizations are prepared. We are, and will continue to add systems and processes to leverage the most reliable DMLS technology in the world,” said Madera. “Our strong customer relationships coupled with our AM lifecycle strategy have quickly evolved from material qualification to production at-scale. We have been working diligently to put in place a very robust supply-chain with industry partners to exponentially increase our metal AM capacity and services.”
“When this phase of the investment is complete, Morf3D will boast ten EOS M 400-4 machines, one EOS M 400, and three EOS M 290s. That is no small commitment by any stretch of the imagination,” said Glynn Fletcher, president of EOS North America. “But, Ivan’s team has long track record of success and a clear vision regarding the market demand for AM capacity. They are pursuing their entrepreneurial dreams with extraordinary vigor. We’re really proud to support them and reinforce their belief that EOS powder bed 3D-printing technology is the surest way to achieve their goals.”
